A Case of Acute Hemorrhagic Gastritis associated with Pyogenic Liver Abscess

Abstract
A 53 years old Korean male was admitted with the chief complaints of acute hematemesis and melena of 5 days duration on Aug. 3, 1968, to this hospital. Physical examination revealed pale, anemic face and acutelly ill -appearance and negative signs of surgical abdomen or Murphys¢¥ sign. Chest was physically free. Blood pressure was 100/40inmHg,, Temperature 37.3¡ÆC, Pulse rate 90/min., Respiration rate was 28/min. Laboratory findings were as follows; R.B.C. 970, 000/mm3, Hb. 2.5gm%, Hct. 8%, W, B. C. 55,51O/mm3 (seg. neut. 77%, stab neut. 18%, lymphocytes 3%, metamyelocyte 1%, and myelocyte 1%), Urinalysis of one positive protein, and 3 positive urobilinogen, SGOT 69 units, C.C.F. (+)/24hrs. , Prothrombin time 67%(15.8 see.) B.S.P. 7% 45min., Alkaline phosphatase 5 units (Bodansky).
An operation was performed on the third hospital day and he was finally diagnosed as acute diffuse erosive homorrhagic gastritis associated with pyoenic lives abscess.
Reviewed the incidence of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhages caused by various etiologic diseases and the causal diseases of rare, unusual gastrointestinal hemorrhages. And also reviewed the incidence of gross gastric hemorrage due to gastritis and diagnosticc methods on the gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
